Trekking and Lakes

Variety of treks are available in Western Himalayas between April to October. The best trekking months are July to September, when one can trek over high passes of over 5000m into the Tibetan plateau. There are few very beautiful lakes generally on an altitude of more than 4000m in this area. Chandratal Lake with its 4 kms circumferences is easily approachable by 3-12 days trekking. Tsomorori and Pangong are two bigger lakes in Ladakh. Tsomorori is on 12 days trekking route between Ladakh to Spiti. The circumferences of Tsomorori Lake is 65 kms. Pangong Lake is salted Lake and it is on the border between India and Tibet. Half of the Pangong Lake is in India and the other half is in Tibet.
