Manali - Himachal
Blessed with an
abundance of natural beauty, Kullu-Manali valley is rightly celebrated as the valley of
Gods. Nestled between Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges, it is the credile of great river
Beas. About 80 km long, this lush valley extends from the gorge at Aut to Rohtang Pass. It
harbours evergreen forest, alpine meadows, beautiful rivers and orchard laden with fruits.
Manali at an altitude of 2000m, is the start point for all sort of adventure expeditions
over the Great Himalayas to the Trans Himalayan region. We can drive in two hours from
Manali to the Great Himalayan ranges of Pir Panjal at Rohtang Pass (3978m). There are many
adventure activities available at Manali including day treks, paragliding, white water
river rafting, rock climbing and skiing.
Manali is part of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla at an altitude of 2200m is capital of Himachal Pradesh and it was summer capital of India during British rule. If you are travelling to Shimla from Delhi by train, then you need to travel in two parts. First you need to travel by either fast Shatabdi train or express train to Kalka and then transfer to meter gauge train to Shimla, which is one of the most spectacular journey of norhtern India passing through 109 tunnels. Shimla is also connected by domestic air services. You can enjoy day treks around Shimla. If you are travelling by train then you need 9-11 hours to arrive Shimla, but if your travelling by road then you need 7-9 hours.
